Even as protests over the killing of five farmers in Madhya Pradesh have spread across parts of the country, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday announced that he will be sitting on a fast on Saturday in Bhopal and hear grievances of farmers.
“From 11 am tomorrow, I will not sit here. I will sit at Dussehra Maidan. I will sit there to talk with the farmers and the people. They can come and discuss things with me. I will fast to bring about peace in the state. I will govern the state from there,” said MP Chouhan, addressing a press conference.
The state is wrought with protests after five protesting farmers were killed in police firing in Mandsaur district. The State had previously claimed that “miscreants” had opened fire on the crowd of protesters, but later admitted that there was some firing from the police as well.
